WHEN: May 9, 2009. Doors open at 10:00 A.M. for socializing. (1 and 1/4 hours before start of general meeting.).
Meeting starts at 11:15 A.M. and ends at 2 PM. Lunch is served around Noon.

The building is at the end of 104th Avenue. Turn onto 104th where the Budget Car Rental is at and drive past the fence into the Elks Lodge parking lot. Park in the back parking lot and enter directly into the meeting room. (See map below.)
PROGRAM: Jim Boyle will be giving a presentation about the Boeing B-29 Superfortress.
The B-29 was in production in June of 1943 - but without any direction on how to fly it in formation, use it, formalized crew training or even figure out how to solve the problems that were inherent in a brand new aircraft that had never seen combat.
LUNCH MENU: $12.50 per plate, which includes gratuity. Meal will be a sandwich buffet w/salad line sit down meal plus coffee or tea. (Price may be higher.)
!Note! Call Tom Philo at 503-591-3227 ONLY if you are planning to EAT at the meeting - by May6 - so he can get a headcount for the lodge food preparers.

Meetings are open to everyone. You do NOT have to be a member to attend meetings.
Past meetings are transcribed and posted on the 8thafhsoregon.com web site. Most meetings are also taped and are available on DVD.
This non-profit organization is for anyone who has an interest in the 8th Air Force in its roll in defeating Germany during World War II. The meeting is valuable to anyone interested in the history of WWII European Air Combat.
There are currently 80 members who flew combat in the 8th AF (and another 20 who flew in other theatres and / or wars.)
To join the Oregon Chapter fill out the form at the meeting and present it to the treasurer. The annual dues is $10. In addition, you can join the national organization whose dues are $25 a year. The national chapter puts out a quarterly magazine while the Oregon chapter puts out a quarterly newsletter plus a monthly chapter news update.
