A wedding is a fun event for all. Here I arranged the both sides of the
family
so as to get them all in the image. With this group I actually
moved the
people around a number of times after this image was taken
so that
the partially hidden people could be seen better.
This was taken at the Portland Latter Day Saints temple in Lake Oswego.
The hourly rate of $95.00 is what I charge for weddings for both digital and when using film. I can mix and match both types during a wedding like what I did with this wedding that took place at the LDS (Mormon)Temple in Portland (right). The hourly rate gives you the flexibility work with me to match your photographic needs and budget.
For each roll of film used I charge an additional $50.00.
A travel fee of $25.00 an hour is also charged.
Initial deposit is $150.00.
The number of images taken with either my film or digital Nikons (I use Nikons: a D90 for digital and F100s / FE2s for film) will vary from 72 images to a few hundred images (when using film it is usually 2 to 5 rolls). However, unlike many other wedding photographers, after the film is processed I give you the 4x6 inch prints and I give you the negatives. The additional $50.00 per roll of film covers the cost of the film developing.
With the digital camera I take the photo both in NEF (RAW) and JPG format at the same time. I do not make any prints from these images. I put all images onto a DVD which you can then take anywhere to get prints made or you can print them yourselves. You are also free to duplicate the DVD, use the images on the web, and give prints and images to others (usage rights are detailed in the wedding contract).
See the wedding section for complete details along with the wedding photo checklist.
It is best to contact me 3 to 6 months in advance of your wedding in order to ensure that I am available. For short term needs, since I will normally book only two weddings a month, I may be available if there are no conflicts in my schedule. There are many wedding photographers who book multiple weddings on a weekend — I do not. This allows me to concentrate on the photography and not watch the clock by having to be leave for another client.
I always like to meet first and go over your needs and what you expect from me. I also at this time go over the contract and the wedding checklist so I can do any necessary planning. Within the contract it details the who / what / when / where which I use to plan for photographing your wedding.

I cover wedding / assignment needs from Salem in the South, the Portland and Vancouver Washington Metro Area, north to Longview, the Northern Oregon Coast to the West and to Mount Hood to the East. This encompasses all the towns like Gresham, Troutdale, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tualatin, Tigard, Roy, St Helens, McMinnville, Wilsonville, Molalla, Canby, Aurora, Sandy, Woodland, Camas, Battle Ground, Washougal, and many other towns within this region. Other more distant locations can be accommodated. The travel fee to all these areas always applies.
The way I do portraits is also different than most other photographers. I will travel to your home (or other location) in the local Portland area with my camera gear, once there set up and shoot a role of 36 exposure film.

I charge $95.00 for this service. This includes, 4x6 prints if I use film, and having the images placed on a CD. You also get to keep the negatives.
When using the digital camera no prints are provided. However, more images are likely to be taken and all of them are placed onto a DVD.
Use of this service is limited to situations like a portrait of your immediate family, a couple, a graduation picture, professional portrait. There is no set time limit for this type of portrait work but it usually takes an hour.
Travel time is only charged if I have to travel more than 30 minutes each way.
Family reunions and other functions fall under my assignment rules and rates.
More details are in the portraits section.
I covered the Reno National Air Races as an assignment photographer for AVWeb.com during 2000, 2001, and 2002 (AVWeb was bought out by another company so that assignment stopped). While on assignment I uploaded to AVWEB daily the images that I had taken during the day.
All images that I take go into my online photo database. Any photograph that I have can be individually purchased in sizes from 5x7 to 20x30 poster prints or rights can be purchased to use in publications.
The ultimate need determines the equipment used and I have both both film and digital cameras.
The normal ICM profile that I use with the D90 is the Adobe RGB color space.
To reserve me this for a photography assignment call (503) 591-3227 or send an e-mail.
I have an extensive collection of around 55,000 negatives and slides of scenes from Alaska to Europe. Of the images that I have more than 5,000 are of England, Wales, France, Belgium and Germany. On my recent trip to Hawaii (Oahu) I took over 800 photographs in the week I was there.
My photographs cover a wide range of subject material: aviation, flowers, castles, churches, doors, villages, pub food, scenics, windmills, people, events and many other diverse subjects. I have a sample page showing a large variety of photographs that I have taken.

I try and carry my camera with me all the time. I went to Washington DC one
time and on the flight from Chicago was the
Reverend Jesse Jackson. I was the only person who had a camera out and used
it when he deplaned at National Airport.
You can search for various images and see thumbnails of them using the online photo database feature.
On a flight back from Dallas Texas as we approached PDX I got this
images of Houseboats
on the Columbia River . Images like this can be used for stock photography
needs.

A generalist is a jack-of-all-trades but a master of none, whereas a generalizing specialist is a jack-of-all-trades and master of a few. Big difference.

I do not have a studio or brick and mortar location. (I do have the ability to create a mini portrait area on location using my backdrops.) My address says "Beaverton" but technically it is the Aloha PO who delivers my mail. (Beaverton will eventually annex where I live so I just used Beaverton.) I live in Washington County in Oregon just two blocks from the Beaverton city limits.
I have done work from Mount Hood in the east, to Salem in the south, the Portland / Vancouver Metro Area, and on the Northern Oregon Coast including work at Depoe Bay to Seaside.
Some Customer Comments that I have received.
There is a lot more to me than photography. I have a whole lot of pages in my personal area of topics that interest me. Reno National Air Races 2006 pictures, Portland Traffic Patterns (what are the "usual traffic slowdowns"?), historical interests, hobby interests information like in my Remote Control (R/C) plane flying area and so on.
